Working on the centreboard…part 3

The last job to do was to re-hang the CB back into the housing, during the weekend Sarah had been busy anti-fouling the case.

Fitting it back required alot of pushing a shoving and shouting to get it lined up but eventually it went back in…

Only to find the “beefed up” pull rope was too stiff to pass through the eye so the board would not lock down into place, at this point the camera went away while I scratched my head for a solution.

In the end I replaced the first 18 inches of rope with running rig rire with two spliced hoops, one passed though the board heavily coated in shrink fit tubbing (several layers) so it wouldn’t chafe the board or the housing the second of which the rope was spliced onto.

Once done and refitted the rope was pass back down into the housing and spliced to the rear of the board to give a continuous loop so there is no ends to lose!
